Cook - Dietary
Responsible for preparation, cooking and assembly of food for hospital patients, cafeteria and satellite kitchens. Prepares food items using knowledge of modified diets and utilizing standardized recipes and portion sizes. Stocks prep area and other areas as needed. Assists other staff as needed. Cleans and sanitizes all equipment used. Uses computer to tabulate patient diets and complete required trainings. All cooks may be cross-trained to complete any or all of the following jobs:
One year of quantity cooking experience is required; both restaurant and institutional experience preferred
Knowledge of modified and therapeutic diets required..
Knowledge of food service sanitation and safety conventions.
Must be able to read and write English, be able to follow verbal and written instructions and be able to write simple correspondence.
Good verbal communication skills a must (listing, reading, writing and understanding) in interaction with employees, visitors, patients, physicians and vendors.
Must be detail oriented when reviewing diet orders and reading of menus and recipes.
Previous experience operating a cash register and the ability to count money and make change accurately is preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Basic math and computer skills
