Instructor - Education
Our Continuing Education Department is looking for an additional instructor to help train, develop and certify DCMH staff and those in our community. Works directly with the Education Coordinator to develop class schedules and agendas. Helps maintain and organize educational equipment used for classes. Possesses clinical skills necessary to educate in areas of expertise.

Position Responsibilities:

Instructor must have the creativity and ability to follow standard curriculum; Certified by the American Heart Association.
If teaching BLS/ACLS/PALS courses the instructor works independently to teach the techniques to individuals and groups.
Certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics if teaching the NRP course the instructor works independently to teach the techniques to individuals and groups.
Instructor leads the class and must have the creativity and the ability to follow standard curriculum.
Instructor is responsible for the planning, organization, to conduct BLS/ACLS/ PALS and or NRP classes
Utilizes a variety of teaching techniques such as manuals with lesson maps, visual aids, charts, lectures and physical demonstrations of life support skills checks.
Prepares classroom for instruction including ensuring adequate supplies and cleanliness of mannequins.
Maintains Instructor Certification, meeting the certifying associations minimum requirements for teaching.
Conducts classes for DCMH staff and community health care professionals by teaching courses.
Assesses the participants' level of understanding and adapts instruction to the best advantage for the participants, while following the American Heart Association and American Academy of Pediatric guidelines and agendas at all times.
Utilizes a variety of teaching techniques such as manuals with lesson maps, visual aids, charts, lectures and physical demonstrations of life support skills checks.
Evaluates skills and assists students with improving their skills.

Required Education & Experience:

Must be a high school graduate; must be 18 years of age
Must have course certification along with course Instructor certification/Valid instructor card for course being taught. ( BLS/ ACLS/PALS/NRP & Fetal Monitoring)
Must be able to effectively communicate to a group of students.
Must be organized and be able to keep order in a classroom setting.
2-3 years of teaching experience is preferred
The candidate must be capable of lifting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Must have a professional license (i.e. EMT, Paramedic, RN, RRT etc...)
Must complete yearly instructor requirements made by the AHA and other instructor led courses.
