Food Service Aide I - Nutrition Services
Position Summary:

The Food Services Aide may be cross-trained to complete any or all of the following jobs:
Cashier: Runs cafeteria cash register and credit card machine. Assists customers. Reconciles cash drawer at end of shift. Restocks cafeteria staples and refrigerators. Assists other staff as needed. Cleans and sanitizes all equipment used.

Expeditor:

Delivers food to Oncology satellite kitchen, including serving food, restocking kitchen, cleaning, and transporting meals and dishes. Directs and assists oncology volunteers as needed. Assists other staff in food preparation, cleaning and dishwashing as needed. Cleans and sanitizes all equipment used.
Dishwasher: Cleans and sanitizes all dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans and other equipment used in the preparation of food. Assists with tray line, delivers and picks up patient trays to hospital units. Assists other staff as needed. Cleans and sanitizes all equipment used.

Stocker:
Responsible for stocking diet kitchens and completing daily cleaning assignments. Puts away groceries. Delivers trays, snacks and other food items for patients as needed. Assists other staff as needed. Cleans and sanitizes all equipment used.

Position Responsibilities:

Cashier
- Sets up and stocks cafeteria at beginning and end of shift.
- Accurately runs cash register and credit card machine.
- Assists customer as needed in a polite manner.
- Accurately counts cash drawer for following day.
- Checks and records temperatures daily.
- Cleans Coffee urn, iced tea maker, and ice dispenser on scheduled day.
- Covers, dates, and labels all food items.
- Posts evening menu and prices accurately.
- Is careful with dishes, equipment, supplies and does not abuse them.
- Accurately checks trays at tray line.

Expeditor
- Delivers meals to Oncology kitchen.
- Records meal temperatures.
- Directs and assists Oncology volunteers as needed.
- Maintains adequate supplies in Oncology kitchen.
- Stocks according to stocking list.
- Puts away groceries and other stock efficiently.
- Records meals served.
- Covers, dates, and labels all food items.
- Is careful with dishes, equipment, supplies and does not abuse them.
- Accurately checks trays at tray line.
- Assists other staff as needed in food preparation, cleaning and dishwashing.

Dishwasher
- Cleans and sanitizes all dishes, glassware, silverware, post, pans and other equipment.
- Records water temperatures of the dish machine on the dish room chart daily and sanitizer weekly.
- Frequently changes presoak solution and dish water through the course of the shift.
- Follows daily cleaning list and completes per Department policies and procedures and documents on dish room calendar.
- All items are dried and properly stored.
- Picks up trays from hospital units in a timely manner.
- Stocks diet kitchens according to preset schedule and list of items.
- Stocks grocery orders per Department policies and procedures.
- Is careful with dishes, equipment, supplies and does not abuse them.
- Accurately checks trays at tray line.

Stocker
- Picks up trays from hospital units in a timely manner.
- Stocks diet kitchens according preset schedule and list of items.
- Stocks grocery orders per Department policies and procedures.
- Puts away groceries and other stock efficiently.
- Checks for outdates and rotates stock in each unit.
- Is careful with dishes, equipment, supplies and does not abuse them.
- Accurately checks trays at tray line.

Required Education & Experience:

- One year of quality food experience with restaurant and institutional experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food service sanitation and safety conventions.
- Must have basic math skills and be able to read and write English, follow verbal and written instructions and write simple correspondence.
- Ability to count money and make change accurately.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Previous experience operating a cash register and credit card machine is preferred.
