Delta County Memorial Hospital Volunteer Chaplains

In partnership with area clergy, Delta County Memorial Hospital has created an on-call chaplain program. Because the hospital is dedicated to provide the community with consistently high quality healthcare it was felt this needed to be complimented with spiritual care.

Volunteer chaplains have a weekly call rotation and are available 24 hours per day, seven days per week. This service is available for patients and family members.

The goal is to first contact the patient's own clergy or pastor if the need arises; if they are not available the chaplain on call will be contacted.

If you wish pastoral care and do not have someone available, please tell your nurse or contact the discharge planners at 874-2253.

During a time of illness, we often become frightened, discouraged, bewildered, emotionally drained.

In our hearts we may ask:

*Why is this happening to me?
*Where is God in all this pain and suffering?
*What can I hope for now?
   *To whom can I turn?

A Volunteer Chaplain is available:

   *To listen
*To help sort out the questions
*To assist in discovering sources of hope and strength
   *To pray
